The Dorea Institute

The Dorea Institute is known of the Duphlessis orphans case. Some years ago, the church and the Canadian government set up a scheme, where children out of wedlock were taken from their mothers, declared mentally ill, and were sent to these orphanages which of many were named facilities for mentally ill. This way institutions like the Dorea Institute got higher federal subsidies for the orphans they had there. Reportedly the children were beaten, battered, tortured, experimented and murdered under false claims of helping their mentally ill state. The scheme was revealed and the orphans got some compensations for their suffering, which hardly made matters better.
