Abandoned School

This shot was taken from the interior of a decommissioned elementary school. The primary reason was the buildups of mold growing from humidity entering the structures, releasing airborne hazardous compounds into the air.A junior high school recides just few hundred meters away from this building, which used to have the junior high and the high school in the same building. The high school was moved away to the city center to be combined to a one big high school, so the junior high now had extra student space. The large-scale of the problem of this elementary school, coupled with now available space in the neighboring building condemned this school to demolition. However, after it’s decommissioning, the school stood nearly a decade without purpose. And naturally was subjected to vandalism and substance abuse users, arising from time to time in local newspapers because of this.
